cuzzin heejin

finally met up with cousin heejin. breakfast at likelike was actually our second get together... we had dinner at cpk before his wife angela left, but we were so involved in conversation and the excitement that we both forgot to take pictures! such a serendipitous story - the guy is the most coolestest, loving guy and will be moving to hawaii later this year, which is pretty awesome. what a crazy story.

state of the states

our country is making me sad...

i read a news article today that reported that "swindlers" were taking advantage of the people in the tornado damaged midwest. looting of homes, id theft, car theft etc. japanese workers head straight into chernobyl-like radiation in the wake of the tsunami devastation while in america, people rip off those who've just lost everything.

then i watched j lo perform her new song with pitbull on american idol. huh? they said i was #1 in like 18 countries. huh? the contrast in singing talent between her and the "idols" was whopping. i felt bad for her if that makes sense.

then we caught a show called repo games. very very sad.

its official!

i'm a kam school parent. kaleb got accepted after a whirlwind, rollercoaster ride, turn of events. we get the dreaded rejection letter. 2 weeks later we get a call that there was a mix-up and that he's actually on the waiting list. 2 days after that we get the wait list letter. that afternoon we get the call to disregard the letter because there was an opening and HE'S IN! kaleb is still grinning. orientation was yesterday and we got full tuition waiver with meals included and all - we just gotta buy his uniforms. it was a rigorous process both for kammy and kaleb (some parents refuse to ever reapply because of it), but worth it. whats crazy is that there were 2 other girls from our church who applied for 7th grade and THEY GOT IN TOO! of the 1200 applicants only about 170 got in - they said it was a 1 in 6 chance. i'm still a little shocked... i'm trying to resist getting too emotional. this really is a big deal, i just can't wrap my mind around it. and the circumstances? nuts. congrats bruddah kaleb, i'm epically happy for you... now go get um.

a monk encounter

we went for a walk one morning and ran into a monk seal. i called the front desk of the hotel in case it needed to be protected, but the lady didn't know who to call. i saw it a few days later on the beach, but this time it was properly roped off so no one would bother it.
